International day for the elimination of violence against women

Last Tuesday, different activies took place in our high school to commemorate the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. The United Nations General Assembly defines "violence against women" as "any act of gender-based violence that results in, or is likely to result in, physical, sexual or mental harm or suffering to women, including threats of such acts, coercion on arbitrary deprivation of liberty, whether occurring in public or in private life."

The students in the third year of Compulsory Secondary Education (group B) wanted to participate in these activities by creating a poster which can be seen in our high school. This poster shows images of women who have changed history forever by being strong, human and brave, regardless of society's expectations for them. It's important we become aware of the importance of the role of women; we mustn't allow violent acts that may harm them.
